00:00:37.951 --> 00:00:43.401
Let's go Okay.
00:00:43.401 --> 00:00:47.912
So how can I improve my public speaking skills for coaching sessions?
00:00:48.439 --> 00:00:49.203
I love that question.
00:00:49.203 --> 00:01:08.527
I actually just helped a client and our coach accelerator through this process, because she had been invited to speak in front of a rather large Facebook group and this was the first time that she was ever giving a presentation, and so what I told her, and what I like to tell people here on YouTube, is to not make it about you, but to make it about your audience.
00:01:08.527 --> 00:01:21.061
So whenever I'm speaking in front of a big stage or doing something for the Justice Clearinghouse or any of the other organizations, I always remind myself that it's not about me, it's not about me being nervous, it's not about what do I have to offer.
00:01:21.061 --> 00:01:25.649
It's always about them, what they're struggling with and how I can best help and serve them.
00:01:25.649 --> 00:01:34.632
Because when you make it about the other person, it's not as weird and awkward and you can actually make a bigger impact because you're focused on them versus yourself.
00:01:34.632 --> 00:01:36.823
Right Cause, very easy to get into.
00:01:36.823 --> 00:01:37.727
Who am I?
00:01:37.727 --> 00:01:45.250
I'm not qualified and all those other things that our brain tries to convince us to not step into it, but instead get curious about the audience, right?
00:01:45.531 --> 00:01:51.765
So for her, I'm like, hey, let's set up a plan to ask them some questions to see what you can actually help them with.
00:01:51.765 --> 00:01:57.870
You would be amazed how many people get asked to speak and then they just come up with it all on their own and you don't even know your audience.
00:01:57.870 --> 00:02:07.420
You don't know who they are, what they want, struggles they're going through any of those problems, right?
00:02:07.420 --> 00:02:09.348
You're not going to be able to help them much and you're really not going to be able to connect.
00:02:09.348 --> 00:02:15.169
And so for her, we compiled a list of questions and she went and she asked them, and she was so glad that she did, because when she came back, she's like Mark, they're struggling with this, this, this and this and this.
00:02:15.169 --> 00:02:26.913
And it was funny because in the beginning she was a little like it about them and you didn't make it about you.
00:02:26.913 --> 00:02:33.170
So probably the biggest tip that I would give is to make it about your audience, not about you.
00:02:34.014 --> 00:02:37.182
Now we teach a little bit more in depth inside of the Coach Accelerator.
00:02:37.182 --> 00:02:49.350
We have an entire phase where we go through speaking, putting together presentations, how to pitch and all that kind of stuff, and those are all things that we like to talk about, but it all revolves around this idea of make it about them, and when you make it about them.
00:02:49.350 --> 00:02:51.003
It just makes it so much more beautiful.
00:02:51.003 --> 00:03:00.756
You're a coach with a big heart and a powerful desire to make a real difference in the world, but what if you could increase your impact, increase your confidence and grow a business with ease?

Thank you for being willing to lean in, and let's get right back into the show.
00:03:24.389 --> 00:03:43.177
Yeah, I also have one thing to say, because this is also something that comes up when you're talking about public speaking, and that is the feeling that people get and the nervousness that comes along when you're asked to talk in front of a crowd of people, sometimes maybe even like a small group in an office.
00:03:43.739 --> 00:03:44.921
It doesn't matter what it is.
00:03:44.921 --> 00:03:49.062
This feeling of anxiety that people get is very, very common.
00:03:49.062 --> 00:03:58.215
And, speaking of the client that we're talking about, there was this other thing that she talked about that I thought was really, really incredible and I think I should share it.
00:03:58.215 --> 00:04:32.283
So she was nervous to do this presentation, she was putting her presentation together, but she had that like nervous energy and what she did was, instead of focusing on it being a bad feeling, like I'm nervous, I'm scared, she flipped it to another type of feeling and that was more excitement, because a feeling is like a vibration in your body right, it's just our brain is what interprets whatever that vibration is, and for her it was nervousness, but then she turned it into excitement.
00:04:32.283 --> 00:04:43.682
So it's along the same lines of what Mark was saying, like she made it more about the other people to get the most out of the presentation rather than focusing on herself and how she was feeling.
00:04:44.331 --> 00:04:49.634
I love that, and I think it's Mel Robbins who talks about like a feeling of excitement and a feel of fear feels the same way in your body.
00:04:49.634 --> 00:04:58.062
You just get to decide which one of those paths you want to go down, and that's one of the things that this client of ours is really powerful with she's able to coach herself through that process, right.
00:04:58.062 --> 00:05:03.115
That is what we focus on inside of the Coach Accelerator being able to coach yourself so you can rise up to that level.
00:05:03.115 --> 00:05:09.651
Because when you're the person who's asking others to do that and you're doing it yourself, it really does change the game forever.
00:05:09.651 --> 00:05:11.454
So, all right, I hope that helped.
00:05:11.473 --> 00:05:21.646
Guys, if this is something that you're interested in, you're interested in learning how to get on stage, learning to have better conversations, learning to ask questions in a group atmosphere, putting together presentations.
00:05:21.646 --> 00:05:31.619
That's all stuff that we do inside of the Coach Accelerator which helps you create more impact and income than you ever have by developing your confidence and the skills to really help people achieve their goals, right.
00:05:31.619 --> 00:05:34.872
